GOOD FOR THE PRICE
Home depot has about the lowest price going for this door. I have 2 of these. Considering they're used many many times each day by 2 dobermans and a amstaff I would say they've held up fairly well. In my situation the flaps have about a 6 month life span before the metal strip at the bottom is bent beyond repair and the magnetic strips probably last about 2 years. I would give it maybe 5 out of 10 for weather protection since the flaps don't seal all that well after the're broken in. This is a ... read more replacement for a 6 year old door that is no longer cost effective to rebuild. Overall good value for the price.

Through Outside Wall with Minimum Effort
I installed the dog door through an outside wall without the expansion adapter. The outside wall was finished with plywood, foam insulation and vinyl siding. It was definitely a custom job. LOOKED GREAT when all was done. The double door worked so well for this application. I will defiantly use this door again. I will be installing a small shed / dog house on the outside so as to deter any raccoons from exploring inside my house. I chose to go through the wall as opposed the door because I did ... read more not want to interfere with the screened/storm door and the way the door was made left me with thinking through the wall would give me a better look. I was thinking of installing an inside cabinet with an additional door to keep the humans out!

Does the job
The door was relatively easy to install - as expected. I had to order the super large size (15x23.5) because I have a Pyrenees/St. Barnard mix. He's a big boy, but fits through just fine. The door is huge! So it adds a lot of light to the room. It does allow for some fresh air flow, but isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I live at 9000' and we have some cold and windy days. The room does get colder now, but it's worth it and I installed it in a room I can close off from the rest of the ... read more house. The wind has had no effect on the flaps. Overall, I am very happy with with door and that my guy can come and go as needed.

Cat Approved
Positive: The flap works better than the ones that have the magnetic strips on them (I've found that those tend to get stuck on the edge of the frame.) Quality of the door is decent. Nice, narrow size so it doesn't take up a lot of space, but still more than big enough for my medium-sized calico. Negative: It serves it's purpose but it definitely doesn't fit perfectly. Obviously a universal fit door isn't going to fit every track and door perfectly but knowing that this is usually going to be ... read more the case, I'd think it should come with a bit better weather stripping/insulation around the frame to allow for a little better fit around the inconsistencies. As others mentioned, I went and bought my own weather stripping and eventually made it work. I haven't installed the "lock" it comes with because I don't feel like drilling a hole in my sliding door; for now I'm just sticking a wood dowel in the bottom of the frame because it's easier. In the end, my cat LOVES it. Took us a couple tries but by the end of the night, she was going in and out with a new sense of freedom and I no longer have to have litter in my house so it's Totally worth it!

cat patio door
I bought this product for my 4 lb dog to use and it works great. It is the perfect size or her. Now if I could just get her to go thru the door. I am glad I bought this an not a larger doggie door.

Best price around
Spendy for what it is, but I didn't find a better price anywhere. Had to use duct tape at the top on side of the spring-adjust mechanism to ease closure against sliding door. It wants to splay open, not allowing trouble-free door closing. Duct tape works but is not attractive.

Very Good Product
This product is the best!!! Before learning this was on the market I had spent too much time trying to decide in between door or wall doggy door but was hesitant since both options require making a hole to install it, which I really didn't want to do. For this product I just had to measure my window, measure my biggest dog and order according to that, very easy. Installation was easy and I can remove it if I want to or install it on another window in my house. The dogs got used to it very ... read more easily, all it took was some patience and a couple of dog treats, they were using it without a problem by the next day, even the cat started using it too! It didn't come with a lock for the sach window but we are just using a piece of wood on the inside of our window to lock it. It came with a plastic cover to use over the flap for when it is not in use which is very nice. Unfortunately we have problems using it because it hits the rim of our sash window, we just have to raise the window before putting or removing the plastic cover, not a big deal for us. I knew it was going to be above ground level for the dogs so I also ordered a pair of steps to put inside and outside for them to climb easily. Luckily, I already had a patio chest below the window so it works perfectly, the dogs use it as a platform before they get in or out the window.

A breeze to install!
Product was easy to install and provides a way for our puppy to get in and out w/o us having to take her every few hours. We have tall glass doors that prohibited installation of a pet door, so the window application was just perfect. Our sash is about 13" off the floor so we placed a small step under the sash and stone steps on the exterior. The only improvement I would suggest is for additional weather stripping to be included. Not quite enough was with the item to weather strip the top and ... read more bottom. Pet door has made life with a puppy much easier.
